General Hospital’s biggest cast changes in history…

With the announcement that Kimberly McCollough was leaving the show as Robin Scorpio, and the end of One Life To Live, many fans speculated that the loss would not be possible to overcome. If you have not heard the latest casting news, then sit down tight for this one. Finola Hugues (Anna Devane) is set to reprise her role as Robin’s mother. The catch is, she will stay put in Port Charles for a long term stint. Also joining her, is Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) although we don’t know for how long. Another veteran favorite will stop by to husher Nathan Parson away, Emma Samms returns in February as Holly. But wait… There is more…

Four cast members from One Life To Live are joining General Hospital. In a story that involves core character Sonny Corinthos. Roger Howarth (Todd Manning), Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Kristen Alderson (Starr) and Micheal Easton (John McBain). Promos came out the same day as the announcement and looks like all four will be on contract when they start in late January.

Homeland Season In Review

The first season of Showtime’s hit series as ended a few weeks ago, I watched the 12 episodes in about 3-4 days so it’s really fresh in my mind. I had reservations about this show with the casting of the female lead. Claire Daines to me seemed a weird choice. I have not watched anything with her in it since My So Called Life (and I can’t even remember it now). So to me she did not seem to fit the bill. I was going to skip the show altogether when  I noticed that one of my favorite actresses from V The Series was on the show. The talented Morena Baccarin. She mesmerized me on Firelfy, and then as the vilain on V and now the good wife on Homeland. So after watching the first two episodes, I am now ok with the casting of Claire Danes and fell in love with the show. But is it me, or the last few episodes were beyong weird.

Before I go into that, the writers of this show has shown us an aspect of the war we were not aware of. I mean, it’s fiction, but you almost can’t tell. The story is good, believable, the actors portray the roles perfectly. So congrats to the people behind the show.

To me, Brody was always the enemy. Then they thru us for a loop when Walker turned up very much alive. Then we learned what happened to Brody in the last few years of captivity and then things went downhill from there. Can Carrie get a break. Everything she got to the truth about Brody she was sidelined and led to a complete other scenario. First with the reveal that Walker was alive and second when Brody decides, after a call from her daughter, not to blow himself up with the vice president and others present in that bunker. So the last scene of the season, we see Carrie undergoing shock therapy seconds after remembering the link between Brody and the boy. Talk about not having any luck.

Showtime as renewed the show for a second season. That is great, but I don’t know where they can really go from here. Brody as taken care of Walker permanently, by ratting out Carrie, Brody as also made sure that nothing fromt he surveillance or what was told in confidence be held againts him. Carrie is barred from the CIA since she did not disclose an important illness and Saul discovering this major cover up and not knowing what to do with it makes things look bleek for him also.

What are you thoughts about all this. Lets talk about it on our forum.

My Two Cents: What you should catch up on during the holidays !

Yes yes, besides Z’s, there are quite a few shows going on hiatus for the holiday season and that gives you about 2 to 3 weeks to catch up on series that you might not have wanted to invest on so quickly.

CW’s RINGER

When CBS passed the torch to it’s highly publicized return to the small screen of Sarah Michelle Gellar, viewers were skeptical when it turned up on the CW. Being a little older then other series such as 90210 and co. Not only did it mark her return, but she would tackle what was first described as a dual role. In reality, she is tackling three different characters, Siobhan and Bridget (twin sisters) and Bridget pretending to be Siobhan! Ratings are fantastic and the show was quickly given a full season order. Many daytime stars (Michelle Stafford, Phyllis Y&R, Bill Miller, Billy, Y&R) have made their way to the soapy show. This show is filled with twist and turns. You can’t predict what will happen next and that makes it a lot more fun to watch.

FX’s AMERICAN HORROR STORY

I am not one to watch horror flicks. So the weirdness around this show from the creator of the gleeful Glee was weird for me. But since I like the actors in it, I decided to watch the pilot. Spooky is an understatement but the writting of the show is what first appealed to me. It’s not a show you will find anywhere else. It’s in it’s own world and rules that would normally apply to such tv shows are thrown out the window. If you are looking for a short resume of the show, here is my attempt. Anyone that dies outside or inside the house do not cross over. They are left to haunt the halls of the house. Many of them do not even know they are dead. They all show up, some to visit the house, some to spook the occupants. The dead and living interact so neatly that the current owners of the house have no idea that their maid is a dead women, for example. The show as lots of twist and turns and the house as so much back story that you cannot wait to learn more about it every week. She show has beaten records almost every week in ratings. A must watch.

ABC’s ONCE UPON A TIME

I had doubts the show would work, but I was pleasenlty surprised when I watched the pilot. Love the show, love the premise and love the actors in it. The fact that the writers have access to the entire Disney library, I like the modern take on Snow White and Cindereall and little Red Riding Hood.

CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, NBC’s Days Of Our Lives, ABC’s General Hospital

They are all available online. What better time to catch up. I watched in two three weeks Y&R from July to November. Support our soaps today !

My Two Cents: Y&R the last few months

For the ones that read my blog, you might know that a month ago I was still behind Y&R. I started watching the July episodes. I am happy to report that as of today, November 26th, I am in the first week of November. So here are my impressions on the show so far.

The Diane Murder Mystery for me was a real bust, especially when we discovered that Patty was in town. That is what I hate with murder mysteries, it can never be Victor or the Newmans the people responsible for it, always the already established crazy ones. I don’t know how some people guessed it would be Patty. The two has had no scenes at all since Maura West took over the role of Diane and nothing seemed to indicate that Patty was coming back so soon. So for me, it’s a bust. I find I miss Maura West on my screen. I am still wishing all of this is some kind of trick or something and she is alive and well. Only time will tell.

One character that I have seen a lot of change in the last few months is Phyllis. Ever since Avery entered the picture, she has become a total bitch and basket case. Already not a normal reaction as a human being to not mention your family to anyone for decades, but to hate, and don’t attempt to sugar coat it, it’s pure hatred Phyllis shares for her sister and we are dying to know what a little sister could have done. So far the actress who portrays Avery is devine to watch. It’s fun to see her turn from nice to bitch and really enjoy her trying to get even with her older sister. I think taking Daisy’s case goes a little far… but I think we will enjoy every minute of it.

Heather is out of luck. I mean, she loses the case (on a technicallity), loses her man (Chance decided it was a good idea after all they break up, just when she realized she might of made a mistake, her ex-phycho lover goes after her again, by having pictures of the Assitant DA kissing her prime witness no less. When it turns out that Avery does not have to use them, Heather breathes for about 30 seconds, just enough time for Phyllis to take the pictures and publish them. Result: Instant lost of job and integrity, served cold by Phyllis and Heather’s brother Ricky.

The new odd ball on the show is Ricky. I don’t get him. I don’t understand how Heather supposdly having a better life would explain his attitude and choices. How is Paul to react to this type of news that his own son stabbed his sister in the back. I don’t like or trust him one bit and don’t see a redeeming quality, not one. He and Phyllis should be an item.

I am quite happy the debacle with Collin and Cane is over with. I will miss Tristan Rogers on my screen, but his character was not redeemable on any point. I am happy Jill realized it in time. I am happy that Y&R is portraying Genevieve as less a nut case and more humaine. I think Genevieve and Jack might become a new powercouple, and now that Collin is gone and done with, they have the room to explore that, unless Patty does something to them. Happy that Cane and Lily are finally back on track. Still there is no reason she should forgive him, he pretended to be a ghost and made her lose her mind.  But she did. I did not like the Daniel and Lily reunion, they are over and done with.

You would think that the mega investigation that made Ronan not be able to talk about anything make him now talk more. The SOB still won’t explain why he left GC in a hurry and why he refuses to get close to brother Chance or mother Nina. Now Nina can be annoying at times, if she was my mother I probably would change my number every few months, but she means well. Everyone deserves the truth from him. But his hook up with Phyllis, that was hot! Unexpected and Hot !

There is an upcoming episode where Avery and Phyllis are stuck together, can;t wait to see it. But what I wish is that Phyllis grows her heart back and accepts her sister in her life, sooner rather then later. Who would you cast as Phyllis’ mother?

I am still rooting for Adam and Sharon. I am probably at minority but these two steams up the screen for me.

So devilicious: Vampire Diaries & The Secret Circle

I have not watched it for a few weeks and its not because I don’t like them. It’s because I love watching multiple episodes in a row. I love them. Like most people, it took a while for me to warm up. The cast and premise did not really appeal to me. But the fact that the show has it’s own myth and stuff makes it worth watching. I am not comvinced they killed off the right character, but time will tell. I will post a summary of the episodes and thoughts later.

All My Children delayed… OLTL going ahead with Prospect Park

Ever since the announcement that Prospect Park would pick up both All My Children and One Life To Live, the fans have been waiting and waiting for news and details. The news and information has been very little to none. But let me offer some perspective to fans of both All My Children and One Life To Live, some sentiments that Cady McClain (Dixie, All My Children) shared over at SoapCentral.com.

I aggree with her that we cannot blame the actors for not being asked, but to remain totally silent was also not good for anyone. If half the cast would of expressed interest publicly then no one could of blamed them for the current state of affairs All My Children is un now. For those who don’t know, Prospect Park is thinking of shelving All My Children and keeping OLTL instead. This is a major kick in the balls to all the fans that they promised a new home for their favorite characters.

But think of it this way. Their intent was to bring back both shows. Thru the months they began calculating and designing their business plans and realized they won’t be able to fund two web shows with the current investments they have now. So I think they spoke too soon and now they are paying the price for promising something that they cannot deliver in the time frame expected. But they did PAY for both shows, it would be a total waste if they did not have any plans at all for All My Chidlren.

What I think they should do is go ahead and test the waters with One Life To Live. You have signed two contract players from All My Children, have them come over for a story arc on OLTL. Let’s face it, althought they have more actors signed up, there are some key players not coming back. Cameron Mathison attracks viewers and is very high profile. Then that would give Prospect Park a view of what could be. Who knows, maybe morph the two shows together and see what story possibilities. Remember, there is at least TWO actors that have history on both shows (Linda Dano as Rae Cummings and Robin Christopher as Skye Chandler Quartermaine) that can help bring the differences of the two shows together.

Cady’s message was this. Stop being negative, stop being team this show or team this show. Support the other shows, support both AMC and OLTL if you want to win this battle.

Editor’s Note

Hi readers, I know that there has been a sudden lack of content added for the last few weeks. I am currently playing catchup with Y&R. I was only up to July and managed in two weeks to be in the first few weeks of September. I will be posting articles about the Diane Jenkins and other storylines soon. I will attempt to load 1 week of DAYS recaps before I start doing the same catch up with General Hospital. Once I am catched up, I will be able to upload the rest of DAYS recaps and have all soaps up to date. So be patient, a lot of great new stuff is coming to the blog.

Thanks and have a great week :-)
