Sonny & Danté By : J.Leonard I am trying to remember when was the last time we had a story that lasted more then six months on any soaps these days. Don’t get me wrong, some stories takes too long (Passions anyone?) and some are too short (Sheila with Phyllis`s face on Y&R). But this story was just perfect. The buildup was perfect, the scene where we see Sonny himself shoot the traitor that turns out to be his son was also, perfect.
In true General Hospital style, while the ugliness was happening, a beautiful christening was happening at the same time. While Carly and Jax was celebrating their new daughter, Sonny was shooting a cop. The scene when Olivia, Dante’s mother, entered Sonny’s house screaming that he just shot his son was priceless. But in true Sonny form, he dashed to save his son from what seemed to be a mortal wound. Sonny’s mind racing and finally understanding the link between the two of them was priceless. Why he liked him so much, why he was about to give the reigns to the organization to him. The betrayal is slightly worse when you realize it’s your own son that is out to get you, but then Sonny realized that even Dante did not know that they were related.
Now that Dante has survived the shooting, we all expected him to finish Sonny off. Let’s face it, shooting a cop puts you in jail. In jail for ever without any chance of parole or at least a good number of years. I think after all that man has done in his life, he should go to jail. But let’s face it. We are not finished with this story, especially since both Olivia and Dante did not testify that Sonny shot him. Instead, he said that he shot himself. Of course, all our jaws dropped at this new bombshell. What in the heck was he thinking? The explanation he gave Lulu made total sense. He is going to go down for Claudia’s murder. (Boy do I wish Sarah Brown realizes the mistake at going to B&B and comes back as Claudia on GH!).
The good news about this story, Dahlia Salem joins the cast. This girl has been missed since she left Another World. She was just a little girl or very young adult at the time so seeing her in a serious role would be fantastic. Just one question to all of you. Where the heck was Kate during this whole mess? I mean how believable is it for Olivia to mention a close family when her cousin is not even around. Is the actress even still on the show?
Whatever happens, I cannot wait for this trial to begin. General Hospital is going to be so good to watch. Anyone that has missed it for awhile should tune back in. Especially with the great casting going around, Robin Christopher`s return and a few new Quartermaines coming our way.
